BRC History
Bear Rocks Construction was formed in the early sixties by Bob Pearlman (Scott Hamilton Real Estate) to build the Ski Lodge, slopes, roads, and homes in the newly formed Bear Rocks Mountain Resort. My father, Jim Boggs, hailing from Kentucky, owned a real estate, developement, and construction company (of the same name) in Pittsburgh, and came to Bear Rocks to see what was being done. Being an outdoorsman and a skier, he liked what he saw and decided to get involved. He became partners with Mr. Pearlman and took over the general management of the construction, ski operation and estate sales.
By the early seventies, Mr Pearlman had decided to start an RV campground in Ohio. Jim Boggs wanted to stay in Bear Rocks, so he purchased the company. My father continued with the business (with me learning from the ground upstarting at age 14) running the ski slopes, broker of real estate sales, and building some 300 resort homes here in Bear Rocks until he retired in 1987. At this time, to further my education, I went off to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Engineering at Penn State. After working in Pittsburgh, and having done some engineering work for a local camping trailer manufacturer, Aliner (http://www.aliner.com), I reopened Bear Rocks Construction Company in 1992. At this time, we added the technology of foam core laminated panels to our original post and beam, open , resort design.
